Prof. A.S. Girija is an eminent Senior Consultant Neurologist at Baby Memorial Hospital, Calicut, with over 35 years of exemplary clinical and academic leadership in Neurology. As a pioneering neurologist in Kerala, she has significantly shaped the landscape of neurology education, research, and clinical services in South India.

An alumnus of Madras Medical College and Kerala University, Prof. Girija has served as the Head of the Neurology Department at Calicut Medical College, where she launched the DM Neurology programme and developed the region’s first Neuro ICU and plasmapheresis services. Her clinical expertise spans epilepsy management, headache disorders, neuroimmunology, and critical care neurology.

Prof. Girija’s contributions to neurology education have extended across prestigious institutions including CMC Vellore and MES Medical College. She has chaired numerous national and international conferences and continues to be a mentor and examiner for DM Neurology candidates at leading institutes.
