Dr. Anuroop Viswanath is a Senior Consultant in Critical Care Medicine with over 15 years of experience in critical care, including extensive experience as a consultant in multidisciplinary intensive care units in India and abroad. His clinical background also includes several years of experience in General Medicine and Acute Medicine, providing him with a broad approach to the management of critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
He has worked in both open and closed ICU settings, managing patients requiring advanced critical care support across medical, surgical and trauma specialties. His experience includes working in tertiary and quaternary care hospitals, as well as within the NHS in the United Kingdom. He has particular experience in the management of critically ill patients requiring organ support, invasive monitoring and emergency interventions.
During his tenure he was involved in the management of a multidisciplinary ICU caring for medical, surgical and trauma patients, including patients requiring CRRT and ECMO support. His UK experience includes consultant level roles in Acute Medicine and Critical Care, including work within multidisciplinary closed intensive care units and critical care outreach services.
Dr. Anuroop has also been actively involved in medical education, postgraduate teaching and professional training. He has served as an academic coordinator for a regional critical care society and has contributed to teaching programmes for doctors and critical care trainees. His academic interests include critical care practice, emergency management, airway management and mechanical ventilation.
He has a strong interest in patient safety and quality improvement in critical care. He served as a Patient Clinical Safety Officer and contributed to developing an incident reporting culture, implementing corrective measures and supporting hospital quality initiatives, including participation in JCI accreditation processes.
His clinical practice combines experience in critical care, acute medicine and emergency care, with a focus on timely assessment, multidisciplinary management and comprehensive care of critically ill patients.
