Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH), Kozhikode, has completed 4,000 thyroid surgeries over the past decade through its Endocrine Surgery Department . To mark this milestone, the hospital organised a patient get-together at Tripenta Hotel, Calicut, bringing together patients treated by the department, their families and members of the medical team to celebrate their journeys and experiences.

The gathering featured patient experience sharing, performances, music and entertainment, and a celebration of the department’s decade-long milestone. Among the patients was Ajitha Raveendran, a theatre artist and music enthusiast from Thiruvananthapuram, who underwent thyroid cancer surgery under Dr. P. V. Pradeep, Chief and Senior Consultant, Endocrine Surgery, BMH. Preserving her voice was particularly important to her, and she has since returned to theatre and music.

The milestone reflects the department’s experience in providing specialised surgical care for thyroid and other endocrine conditions. Led by Dr. P. V. Pradeep and supported by Dr Shikhil P, the department works in collaboration with the Nuclear Medicine team to provide comprehensive endocrine care.
