Septoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct a deviated nasal septum - the wall that divides the nose into two nostrils. What is septoplasty?

Septoplasty is a surgery to correct the alignment of the nasal septum by removing or repositioning the cartilage and bone that block the nasal passage. It is often performed under local or general anesthesia.

What is recovery like after septoplasty?

• Most patients go home the same day or the next

• Avoid strenuous activity, nose blowing, and sneezing through the nose for 1–2 weeks
• Full recovery usually within 2–3 weeks, with significant improvement in breathing

Will septoplasty change the shape of my nose?

No. Septoplasty is done inside the nose and does not change the external appearance. However, if cosmetic reshaping is desired, it can be combined with rhinoplasty (called septorhinoplasty).
