Events & Updates | BMH NAVA Cancer Institute Hosts 'Navodayam Jeevotsavam' – Cancer Survivors' Meet

Reinforcing its commitment to supporting patients beyond treatment, BMH NAVA Cancer Institute hosted 'Navodayam Jeevotsavam', a first-of-its-kind Pan-India cancer survivors' meet that brought together individuals who have overcome cancer to celebrate life, inspire one another, and reaffirm that life after cancer is filled with hope and possibilities.

The event was inaugurated by renowned film actor Lalu Alex, who delivered an inspiring message encouraging survivors to embrace life with courage, positivity, and renewed confidence.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. K.G. Alexander, Chairman and Managing Director, Baby Memorial Hospital, reflected on the remarkable advances in cancer care over the years. Sharing a personal experience, he recalled losing members of his own family to lung cancer at a time when effective treatment options were limited. He noted that today, significant breakthroughs in early diagnosis, advanced therapies, and multidisciplinary care have transformed cancer treatment, enabling countless patients to lead healthy and fulfilling lives after cancer.

Dr. Ananth Mohan Pai, CEO of Baby Memorial Hospital, emphasized that cancer care extends far beyond treatment. He spoke about the immense satisfaction of seeing patients return to their families, careers, and communities after successfully completing treatment, highlighting that survivorship is an integral part of comprehensive cancer care.

Around 100 cancer survivors participated in the event, making it a memorable celebration of resilience, strength, and hope. The gathering provided a unique platform for survivors to reconnect, share their personal journeys, encourage one another, and celebrate the triumph of life over cancer.

The programme also featured insightful sessions by Dr. Nithin Raj, Dr. Shinto Francis, Dr. John J Alappat, Dr. Dhanya K S, Dr. Shelvin Kumar, and Dr. Arun Mathew, who shared valuable perspectives on advancements in oncology, recovery, survivorship, and the importance of continued follow-up care.

Through initiatives like Navodayam Jeevotsavam, BMH NAVA Cancer Institute continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred cancer care while fostering a supportive community that empowers survivors to move forward with confidence and hope.
