Baby Memorial Hospital, Vadakara, has expanded its specialised healthcare services with the launch of its full-time Hand Surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedics Departments, bringing advanced, dedicated care closer to patients in the region. The new departments were formally inaugurated by Dr. Sunil Prashanth, Chief of Medical Services, at a function held at the hospital. The launch marks an important milestone in Vadakara’s healthcare landscape, particularly with the introduction of a dedicated full-time Hand Surgery service equipped with advanced facilities.
The Hand Surgery Department will provide comprehensive treatment for a wide range of complex conditions and injuries affecting the hand and upper limb. Services include specialised treatment for complex hand and finger injuries following accidents, microsurgery for nerve, bone and tendon injuries, corrective surgery for congenital hand differences, sports-related injuries, hand arthroscopy, and conditions causing numbness and tingling of the hands. The department will function under the leadership of renowned hand surgeons Dr. Gopalakrishnan M.L., Dr. Ajeesh Shankaran, Dr. Hari Prasad V., and Dr Amish Rahi offering patients access to specialised expertise and advanced surgical care in Vadakara.
The newly launched Paediatric Orthopaedics Department is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of bone, joint and muscle-related conditions in children. The department provides expert care for congenital foot deformities such as clubfoot, hip dislocation, delayed walking, abnormal gait, childhood fractures, growth related orthopaedic problems, and orthopaedic conditions associated with cerebral palsy. The department is led by Dr. Anoop Mavila, with a focus on providing specialized, child-friendly orthopaedic care tailored to the needs of growing children. The inauguration was made even more memorable with ‘Tiny Ramp 26’, a special fashion show organized for children. The event brought together young participants who delighted the audience with their confidence, enthusiasm and vibrant performances. Filmmaker Babin Krishna attended the event as the chief guest.
