Events & Updates | BMH Vadakara Launches Home Care Services to Extend Quality Healthcare to Patients at Home

Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH), Vadakara has officially launched its Home Care Services, marking an important step towards extending accessible and quality healthcare beyond the hospital setting. The initiative aims to bring essential healthcare support directly to patients' homes, making medical care more convenient for individuals who require regular monitoring, follow-up consultations and continued healthcare assistance.

The service was officially launched by Syed Abbas Ali Shihab Thangal, who flagged off the Home Care initiative at a ceremony held at BMH Vadakara on October 8, 2026. The launch marks the hospital's continued efforts to make healthcare services more accessible to people in Vadakara and the surrounding areas.

Healthcare needs often continue even after a patient leaves the hospital. Regular health assessments, medical follow ups and ongoing care are important aspects of recovery and long term health management. However, travelling to a hospital for every follow up can sometimes be challenging, particularly for elderly individuals, patients recovering from illness or surgery, and those who require frequent medical attention.

Recognizing these needs, BMH Vadakara has introduced Home Care Services to extend appropriate healthcare support to patients in the comfort of their homes. The initiative is designed to improve convenience for patients and their families while supporting continuity of care beyond hospital visits.

Speaking at the inauguration, Syed Abbas Ali Shihab Thangal highlighted the importance of making quality healthcare accessible to the community when it is needed. He noted that initiatives that bring healthcare services closer to people's homes can make a meaningful difference to patients and their families by making healthcare support more convenient and accessible.

The Home Care Services initiative is intended to provide healthcare support based on individual patient needs. The services aim to include essential health assessments, medical follow-ups and continued care, helping patients remain connected with healthcare professionals even when they are unable to visit the hospital regularly.

Speaking on the occasion, Nidhin Antony, Chief Operating Office stated that the launch of Home Care Services represents an important step in strengthening the hospital's healthcare support for the local community. The initiative reflects the hospital's commitment to extending patient care beyond its premises and addressing healthcare needs in a more accessible and patient-focused manner.

The launch ceremony was attended by representatives from the hospital, local administration and the community. Those present included Reshma P.R, Senior Operations Manager, Dr. Shamil Usman Moidu, Lead Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Nazeer P, Senior Consultant in General Medicine and Dr. Dilshad Babu, Senior Consultant Paediatrician.

The event was also attended by Vadakara Municipality Councillors Muhammadali, Faisal Mash and Bijul Kumar; Rakesh K.G., Member of Chorode Grama Panchayat and Safnaj, Home Care Executive Staff.

The participation of healthcare professionals and local representatives reflected the importance of community oriented healthcare initiatives and the value of making essential medical support more accessible to people in the region.
