Events & Updates | BMH Vadakara Launches Dedicated Pain Clinic

Baby Memorial Hospital, Vadakara, launched its dedicated Pain Clinic on World Anaesthesia Day, highlighting the importance of specialised care for people living with acute and chronic pain. Persistent pain can affect a person's mobility, sleep, daily activities and emotional well being, often making even simple tasks challenging. The Pain Clinic aims to address these concerns through a systematic assessment of pain and appropriate treatment tailored to each patient's condition and needs.

The Pain Clinic provides specialized evaluation and management for various pain-related conditions, including chronic pain, cancer-related pain, shoulder pain and pain associated with diagnosed medical conditions. It also caters to patients experiencing post-operative stiffness and discomfort that may interfere with recovery and movement.

By assessing the nature, severity and possible causes of pain, the clinic aims to help patients understand their condition and explore suitable treatment options based on their individual medical needs. The Pain Clinic focuses on addressing these varied concerns through an individualized approach, with the goal of improving comfort, supporting functional recovery and helping patients achieve a better quality of life.

The clinic is led by Dr Ansar CM, Senior Consultant in Anaesthesiology, who oversees the assessment and management of patients presenting with pain-related concerns. The approach to pain management begins with understanding the patient's medical history, symptoms and underlying condition before determining an appropriate course of care.

Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may involve medical management and other suitable pain-relief interventions. The emphasis is on selecting appropriate treatment for each patient rather than adopting a uniform approach to different pain conditions.

The Pain Clinic was inaugurated by Mr Nidhin Antony, Chief Operating Officer, BMH Vadakara, in the presence of Dr Sunil Prasanth R, Chief of Medical Services. The event was attended by Dr Ansar CM, Senior Consultant in Anaesthesiology; Senior Gynaecologist Dr Sajna Dilshad Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon Dr Vysakh Rajan, ENT Lead Consultant Dr Murari Kaimal, Plastic Surgery Associate Consultant Dr Vishnudas S, HR & AGM Mr Ajayan Thavath and the Nursing Superintendent Ms Rejitha Regulus.

The launch marks another step in BMH Vadakara's commitment to addressing patients' diverse healthcare needs through specialized clinical services, with a focus on relieving pain, improving daily functioning and supporting better recovery.
