Events & Updates | BMH Vadakara Receives Dual Recognition from Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records for Training 4,007 in CPR

As part of World Heart Day 2026, Baby Memorial Hospital (BMH) Vadakara successfully conducted the “Save Heart, Save Vadakara” Mass CPR Training Programme, bringing together thousands of participants for a large-scale, hands-on CPR training initiative.

Using 105 CPR training manikins, a total of 4,007 participants were trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in a single day. The initiative was organised with the objective of creating greater awareness about cardiac emergencies and equipping members of the community with the basic skills required to respond promptly during a cardiac emergency.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers and members of the wider community. The use of 105 training manikins enabled participants to receive practical, hands-on CPR training, allowing the programme to be conducted on a large scale while ensuring active participation in the training.

The achievement was formally recognized by both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records. Dr. Sagaya Raj, Adjudicator, was present to oversee the record verification and recognition process.

The Asia Book of Records recognition was received from Dr. Sagaya Raj by Mr. Nidhin Antony, Chief Operating Officer, BMH Vadakara. The India Book of Records recognition was received by Dr. Shameel Usman Moidoo, Emergency Lead Consultant, BMH Vadakara, from the adjudicator.

The event was attended by members of the BMH leadership and medical team, representatives of local self-government institutions and the educational community. Dr. Sunil Prashanth R (Chief of Medical Services), Dr. Noushad T.P. and Dr. Sruthi Ajith Kumar (Emergency Physicians) Dr. Haridas P.V. and Dr. Bigesh Unnikrishnan Nair (Interventional Cardiologists) Mr. Vivek V (Public Relations Officer) Mr. Thajudheen Vadakara (Singer), Ms. Shaiji (President, Chorode Grama Panchayat) Ms. Beena B (Principal, Memunda Higher Secondary School) Mr. Jithesh (Headmaster, Memunda HSS), Nidhin Master (Teacher, Memunda HSS) and Mr. Mammali (Vadakara Municipality Councillor) were among those who attended the programme.

The success of the initiative was made possible through the collective participation and support of the community, educational institutions, local representatives, healthcare professionals and the organising teams. The programme brought together people from different sections of society with a shared objective of learning a practical lifesaving skill that can be crucial during a cardiac emergency.

Conducted in connection with World Heart Day, the “Save Heart, Save Vadakara” initiative reflects BMH Vadakara’s commitment to taking health awareness and emergency preparedness beyond the hospital and into the community. While the dual record recognition marks an important achievement, the central focus of the initiative was to empower people with the knowledge and confidence to respond appropriately when faced with a cardiac emergency.

With 4,007 participants trained using 105 manikins in a single day, the programme marked a significant community-based CPR training initiative in Vadakara and a memorable observance of World Heart Day 2026.
