The Department of Microbiology offers a wide range of diagnostic services to support patient care, infection prevention, and antimicrobial stewardship, following standard laboratory protocols and quality practices.

1. Bacteriology Services

- Automated blood culture system for rapid detection of bloodstream infections

- Bacterial culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing

- Direct microscopy for preliminary identification of bacterial pathogens

2. Mycology Services

- Direct microscopic examination for fungal elements

- Fungal culture for identification of pathogenic yeasts and molds

3. Parasitology Services

- Microscopic examination for detection and identification of intestinal and blood parasites

4. Serology

- Rapid card tests for infectious disease screening

- Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA)–based testing for sensitive and specific serological diagnosis

5. Surveillance Cultures

- Screening cultures for detection of colonization with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs)

- Support for hospital infection prevention and control programs
