Overview

The Paediatric Oncology Department at Baby Memorial Hospital, Vadakara provides specialized evaluation and comprehensive cancer care for children and adolescents. Childhood cancer requires a carefully planned and individualized approach based on the child’s age, type and stage of cancer, overall health, and specific treatment needs. Our paediatric oncology care is supported by a multidisciplinary team that focuses on delivering child-centred treatment while also addressing the emotional, nutritional, developmental, and psychological needs of young patients and their families.

The department provides evaluation and treatment for a range of childhood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma, brain and spinal cord tumours, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumour, osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, soft tissue sarcomas, retinoblastoma, liver tumours, and germ cell tumours. Treatment is tailored to each child and may include paediatric chemotherapy, targeted therapy, cancer surgery, and radiation therapy, depending on the diagnosis and stage of the disease. Comprehensive supportive care, including infection prevention, nutritional guidance, psychological support, rehabilitation, symptom management, and regular follow-up, is also incorporated into the treatment journey.

At BMH Vadakara, our paediatric oncology services focus on compassionate, coordinated, and age-appropriate cancer care, helping children and their families navigate treatment in a supportive and caring environment.
